  • The enactment of the Law 39/2007 on Nov. 19th regarding the military career and the implementation of the Bologna process in Europe have led to the reform of the Military Training and Education System of the Officer Cadets of the Armed Forces. Its main goal is to adjust military training and education to the new parameters of the general education system. On this way, it is possible to integrate the military training and education into the civilian academic scope.

    Generally speaking, the main goal of the military training and education of the officer cadets is their preparation for their professional practice and capacity for the incorporation into their corresponding Ranks. It also involves the military training and education for the acquisition of the essential skills which are needed to develop the different commitments in each Corps.
    All these tasks, which cover the preparation of the students in human, military, physical and technical fields, will permanently meet the requirements for the development of the science and technology.

    Mission of the General Military Academy

    This center is in charge of the Officer Cadets’ general and specific military training and education, their corresponding technical development as well as their formation of essential skills. The AGM also deals with the Officer Cadet rank’s leadership and management of their daily routine in the following programs:

    • Military training and education to the Officer Cadets of the Army Officers Rank to get their military formation and the Management Engineering degree.
    • Military training and education to the Officer Cadets of the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) Officers Rank to get their military formation (two courses) and a university degree.
    • Military training and education to the Internal Promotion Officer Cadets of the Army Officers Rank with a university degree in sciences.
    • General military training and education to the Officer Cadets Quartermasters Corps and the Army Polytechnic Engineers with a university degree in their corresponding specialties.
    • General military training and education to the Officer Cadets of the Tri-service Corps in the Armed Forces with a university degree in their corresponding specialties.
    • Military training and education to the Officer Cadets of the Army Officers Rank with a university degree (not optional up today).

    Mission of the Defense Universitary Center

    The "Centro Universitario de la Defensa” (Defense University Center - CUD) is located within the grounds of the AGM and is in charge of the technical development of the University degree in Management Engineering.

    This institution is within the System of Defense University Centers created by the Ministry of Defense which exercises ownership of such centers through the Under-Secretary for Defense.

    This CUD is affiliated with the University of Zaragoza thanks to an Agreement of Affiliation signed by the Minister of Defense and the Dean of the University of Zaragoza. This agreement states that the university degree that students have to get is the degree in Management Engineering although without excluding other degrees that could also be issued in the future.
