Passing out Ceremony

The Passing out Ceremony takes place in the first two weeks of July and is normally presided by His Majesty the King Felipe de Borbón y Grecia. His Majesty, former cadet at the Academia General Militar, was commissioned as an Infantry Lieutenant in the very same Parade Ground in July 1989.

Most of the newly-graduated Officers will soon take part in tours of duty abroad where the Spanish Army is deployed.

The sequence of acts is as follows:

  • Honors to the presiding authority of the event and troops inspection.
  • Awards ceremony and the handing-over of the First Lieutenant Commission to the Valedictorians.
  • The Handing-over of the First Lieutenant Commission to the rest of the Officers.
  • Commandant’s speech.
  • Homage to the ones who gave their life for Spain.
  • Academia General Militar Anthem.
  • Withdrawal of the forces and parade.
