Their destination was either one of the training centres, “San Gregorio” (Zaragoza) and “Chinchilla” (Albacete), or the training field and shooting range “Álvarez de Sotomayor” (Almería).

The escorted convoys comprised almost 4,000 foreign soldiers, as well as 3,000 vehicles and 80 containers. In addition, the Civil Guard established safety procedures at the ports of arrival of participants from other countries: Sagunto, Bilbao, Santander, Barcelona, Almería, Rota and Valencia.

In all, 180 civil guards are taking part in the exercise. Up to 55 have been assigned to the Mobility Unit; 110 are in the Protection Unit; 12 form the Initial Proceedings Unit at the training centres “San Gregorio” and “Chinchilla”; and 3 make up the Force Protection Section of the Functional Staff of the Host Nation Support Coordination Joint Command, based at the cantonment “Atocha” in A Coruña.

The officers at the Force Protection Section coordinate the liaison officers at the training centres, the coordinating officers of the Mobility Unit and the coordinating officer of the Protection Unit.
