The Sanitary Logistics Support Unit celebrates the Military Ceremony of its Patroness in San Cristóbal.
On June 27th, the military ceremonies annually organized by this Unit took place to commemorate the devotion to our Holy Patroness, the Virgin of Perpetual Help, whose patronage—officially declared by Pope Pius XI—celebrates its centenary this year. Presided over by the Major General, Director of Integration of Logistic Functions, the events consisted of a Holy Mass, a military ceremony, and a small social gathering held in the facilities of the barracks, kindly provided by USAC San Cristóbal.
Accompanied by his wife and the Command Sergeant Major of DINFULOG, the general entered the barracks and, escorted by the Lieutenant Colonel commanding UALSAN, received the prescribed honors, reviewed the formation, greeted attendees, and took his place presiding over the ceremony.
During her address, the commander of UALSAN referred to the meaning of the Byzantine icon representing Our Lady of Perpetual Help, its reflection in daily work, and her intercession. She also presented the balance of the past year, the challenges the Unit has faced, and the objectives it has achieved, while highlighting the merit of the personnel and the support of their families in accomplishing these goals. She outlined the path forward for the future, as the technical lead for Class VIII and as a major pharmaceutical warehouse.
On this occasion, the excellent martial setting was used to award four Crosses of Military Merit with white distinction to outstanding members of the Unit, whose effort and impeccable work in the performance of their duties have made them stand out among their peers and deserving of such a valuable honor.
After the tribute to the fallen and the parade that concluded the military ceremonies, all participants, their families, and other guests proceeded to the hall prepared for the social gathering. Following the traditional toast to His Majesty the King, we enjoyed a few minutes of fellowship, recalling good moments of professional activity and reflecting on the months the Unit has spent carrying out its duties in its new location, along with recent achievements related to medical formations and various types of direct support.
Days like this one—which also mark the end of a week filled with moments of camaraderie and fellowship with the other military and civilian members of the barracks—give meaning to the spirit that reigns among our members and provide the energy needed to continue performing our duties at the highest level we are capable of, creating an everlasting bond among those who today form the family of the Sanitary Logistics Support Unit.
