Logistical Support to Units

Currently, the Sanitary Logistic Support Unit (UALSAN), as the thirteenth logistics park of the Army, or with its technical designation as a Central Logistics Organ (OLC), is established as a military pharmaceutical establishment with a logistic-sanitary character and as the sole echelon of maintenance for sanitary products as specified in their technical data sheets, included in Class VIII supply.

Within the various existing military pharmaceutical establishments in the Army, UALSAN is established as a Pharmaceutical Wholesale Warehouse, carrying out the distribution of pharmaceutical products necessary for healthcare in its assigned area of operation, both in national territory and in various missions deployed abroad.

Its functions include the selection, technical responsibility for acquisition, storage, custody and preservation, transportation, and supply of pharmaceutical products used in the Army, to other establishments and pharmaceutical services, both for national territory and operational zones.

In aspects that may be of greater interest to military personnel interested in joining this great team, the following functions within the management of health resources stand out:

•Warehouse logistics management, in the function of proper storage and organization of them.

•Management of custody and conservation under the conditions demanded by current legislation for each type of resources, as a pharmaceutical wholesale warehouse.

•Organization of the transportation of medical resources requested by the units, since these products, due to their special category, use pharmaceutical distribution channels, requiring specific conditions of temperature and relative humidity to preserve their optimal state of safety, integrity, and quality required for their use.

•Extensive knowledge of the computer tools that manage these resources, both those belonging to the MINISDEF and external ones related to the management of pharmaceutical products.

Perhaps the major difference that will affect the assigned personnel is that their participation in large-scale tactical exercises and international peace operations may not be very extensive, due to the related functions, which greatly condition the absence of the Unit for very long periods of time. Our personnel represent our greatest value, managing all our missions.
