The “San Marcial” Division´s units continue with capability integration exercises (INTECAP) in order to synergize and integrate the units. From February 15th to the 19th in Colmenar Viejo (Madrid) and Casas de Uceda (Guadalajara), personnel from the Army´s Aerial Forces (FAMET) and the 6th Paratrooper Brigade “Almogávares” carried out a capability integration exercise focused on aerial assault and air cavalry operations.
The new “San Marcial” division is charged with creating and training units with very specific capabilities that can be rapidly deployed. Since January 1st, it has been built up under the new Army organization and brings several immediate response units together under a single command, which include the 6th Paratrooper Brigade “Almogávares,” Special Operations Command, the Army´s Aerial Forces, the Mountain Forces and the 1st Information Operations Regiment, which is without a doubt the most visible part of the Army´s adaptation to the new strategic environment.
The goal of these exercises is to train the operational capabilities required by the Defense Chief of Staff with the available resources.
