THE CHIEF OF THE ARMY STAFF CARRIES OUT HIS FIRST VISIT TO THE AIRBORNE LIGHT INFANTRY BRIGADE.

General Fulgencio Coll today has visited for the first time Base “General Morillo”, 7th Light Airborne Brigade “Galicia” headquarters.

On his arrival the chief of the Army Staff was received by the Commander of the Airborne Light Infantry Brigade, General José A. Alonso Miranda, and following the hoisting of the Flag, the work day began with a session of Military Physical Instruction on the Base and its Training Camp accompanied by a delegation of Officers and troop.  After this, General Coll shared breakfast with them all. 

Later, after receiving official honours, the Chief of the Army Staff attended a presentation on the Unit and visited various buildings on the premises and its Training Camp and Firing Range, witnessing various training activities that were being undertaken.

General Coll has highlighted the excellent level of the Airborne light Infantry Brigade units’ preparation, which has been demonstrated on numerous occasions, such as in Operation “Galician Sentry” of support to civilian authorities in Galicia, and, especially, abroad, with their participation in Lebanon, Kosovo and Afghanistan.  Finally, he wished much success to the next force that will depart this month bound for Afghanistan. 

The visit concluded with the signing of the Airborne Light Infantry Brigade Guest Book.
