THE ARMY ORGANISES THE 7TH WAR CORRESPONDENT WORKSHOP
Friday, July 31, 2009
Number: 615
For news professionals.
It will be undertaken in Madrid and the surrounding area, as well as in Toledo from 28th September to 2nd October.
The coming month of September will mark the beginning of the 7th War Correspondent Workshop organised by the Army War College and in collaboration with the Army Headquarters Department of Communication, units in Madrid, its surrounding area and Toledo, along with the enterprise TEPESA.
This Workshop originated in November 2003, as a joint initiative of the Army War College and the Army Department of Communication, with the aim of offering news professionals their experience in operations abroad, so that these professionals could carry out their reporting duties in the best security conditions.
The main objective of this Workshop is to provide the participants with some skills and knowledge that allows them to undertake their work when they transfer to an area in crisis or conflict.
The training offered in this Workshop is of an eminently practical nature, as it will include awareness in precautionary medical measures and basic life support, self-protection contingency plans, identification of military material, survival in contaminated areas, mine and improvised explosive device awareness, all-terrain driving, helicopter flights, transport in combat vehicles, as well as a practical session in bivouac living and night movement. The Workshop will close with a panel discussion on experiences in conflicts by well-known journalists from radio, television and the press.
