KSPAGT VIII

The "Aragón" group is under the command of Infantry Colonel Francisco González Puértolas, commander of the 64th Mountain Light Infantry Regiment "Galicia" based in Huesca. 

The core of the KPAGT VIII is taken from the 1st Mountain Light Infantry Brigade, (BRCZM) "Aragón".

Its ranks are completed by units from the Canary Military Zones (Civic-Military Co-operation Team and Engineering), Ceuta (a Company from the 54th "Regulares" Group and a Platoon from the 9th Light Armoured Cavalry "Montesa"), Melilla (Civic-Military Co-operation Team), and the Rapid Response Forces (a Light Armoured Squadron from the 2nd Cavalry Brigade "Castillejos" based in Zaragoza and the Intelligence Unit), from the Engineering Command (Salamanca) and from the Special Operations Command (Alicante). A Civil Guard unit from Seville will act as Military Police.

 

In total 868 personnel, of which 65 are women, with 217 Commanders and 621 enlisted. 

KSPAGT VIII missions consist of guaranteeing compliance with United Nations Security Council Resolutions and with the Military Technical Accord.

In the same way it should assure the maintenance of law and order in its area of responsibility, guarantee freedom of movement along routes, monitor designated cities, and establish a secure environment for the return of refugees.

The group deploys in Istok, Rakos, Durajovac, Osojane, Dakovica, Banja and Pec.
