Army Force

The designation of Army’s Land Force units, their capabilities and form as well as their organisation will be consistent with the concepts defined in military doctrine and the tradition of the Army.

Without doing so to the detriment of their other duties, all units of the Force have as their main task, to prepare themselves to establish operational structures for the completion of military operations by transferring them to the operational structure of the Armed Forces in accordance with military doctrine, ensuring a greater capacity to adapt to the rapidly evolving environment.

 

Organisation of the Force

The Army Force is made up of the following bodies which report directly to the Chief of the Army Staff:

 

Headquarters NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain
 
  • Headquarters NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain is a body at the Army Corps level with the ability to lead multinational land operations and, where appropriate, the land component of a joint operation.
  • The Headquarters NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain is organised in accordance with that which is established in the Royal Decree 2015/2004 of the 11th of October which creates the Headquarters NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain within the Army. It has at its disposal, the small combat support units identified to complete its mission.

  • Ground Force
    The Ground Force (FUTER) is a group of units whose main task is to prepare itself to quickly and efficiently establish operational land structures for the completion of military operations.

    The Ground Force is composed of:

  • The Ground Force Headquarters.
  • The ‘Castillejos’ Division.
  • The ‘San Marcial’ Division.
  • Operations Support Commands.
  • Canary Islands General Command
    Canary Islands General Command (MCANA) of the Army is a group of units whose main task is to prepare itself to quickly and efficiently to establish operational land structures for the completion of military operations.

    The Canary Islands General Command of the Army is composed of:

  • The Headquarters of the Canary Islands General Command.
  • Ceuta General Command.
  • Melilla General Command.
  • Balearic General Command.
  • The 16th Brigade ‘Canarias’.
  • Identified small units.
  •
