Gen. Jaime Domínguez Buj named new Chief of the Army Staff

Lieutenant General Jaime Domínguez Buj, present commander of the Operations Command, today has been named new Chief of the Army Staff by the Council of Ministers. 
 

He replaces Army General Fulgencio Coll, who has held the post for the last four years. 
 

Since 2009 Gen. Domínguez Buj has been commander of the Operations Command, where he had previously held command of its Staff.  As Chief of the Army Staff he will return to Army Headquarters, where he had been head of the Army Staff Operations Division. 
 

In the Artillery Arm, born in 1952, he joined the Army in 1970, and after leaving the Academy, he held assignments in units of his specialty, among other locations, in El- Aaiún (Western Sahara).  After obtaining his General Staff diploma, he held vacancies for this qualification at various posts, and was military advisor to ministers Mr. Gustavo Suárez Pertierra and Mr. Narcís Serra.
 

He has broad international experience —he has spent a year at multinational Headquarters— and has participated in missions such as the United Nations Observers in El Salvador or the Stabilisation Force for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
 

He speaks English, French and Italian, is married and is the father of three children.
