Organisation and mission
The Mountain Troops Command consists of:
- Mountain Troops Command Headquarters, based at Pamplona (Navarre).
- 64TH Mountain Chasseurs Infantry Regiment “Galicia” based at Jaca (Huesca).
- 1/64 Mountain Chasseurs Battalion “Pirineos”
- 1/64 Climbers-Skiers Company
- 66TH Mountain Chasseurs Infantry Regiment “América”, based at Berrioplano (Navarre)..
- 1/66 Mountain Chasseurs Battalion ''Montejurra''
The MTM has neither Combat Support nor Combat Service Support units. The formation under which it deploys must provide these support.
It is obvious that the main unique capability of the MTM´s units is their ability to fight in mountain and extreme cold areas, and, for that, they require very specific training, experience, procedures, material and equipment.
