The Operational Logistic Force HQ (CGFLO by its Spanish acronym) has set an example in the use of NATO operational logistic tools within the Spanish Armed Forces as a result of the creation of the Functional Staff of the Host Nation Support Coordination Joint Command for the Trident Juncture exercise.

This challenge has granted CGFLO the opportunity to successfully use the tools developed by NATO to plan, control and execute military operational logistics, dubbed “logistic functional area services” (LOGFAS). It includes a series of programmes to be used within a Movement Control Centre and, together with other incident control NATO programmes, to integrate GPS tracking data. Their use has been extremely useful to NATO in operations like ISAF in Afghanistan and constitutes a milestone in operational logistics in the Spanish Armed Forces.

After more than two years of work, the Operational Logistic Force has trained a significant number of officers, NCOs and foot soldiers of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Joint Staff in the use of LOGFAS. In fact, “Trident Juncture” constitutes a great opportunity for all units interested in these tools to get to know them at CGFLO.

This success could not have been possible without the involvement of personnel from the Subdirectorate General ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and CIS Command (Communications and Information Systems).
