Evaluation and certification within the 4th Coast Artillery Regiment

The Coast Artillery Defence Unit (UDACTA) II/15 of the 4th Coast Artillery Regiment completed its evaluation and certification programme for the Joint Force with a series of exercises which ran from 8 to 11 June at the “Punta Camarinal” outpost in Tarifa (Cádiz).

UDACTA first went to the “Sierra del Retín” training ground in Barbate (Cádiz), where it carried out exercises of deployment and manoeuvring, establishment of communication links, training in small groups and specific training on coast artillery. Next the unit moved on to Tarifa for its evaluation and certification with a live fire exercise using 155/52 mm howitzers to fire at moving targets towed by a Navy ship, using the SDT 9KA-410 fire control unit as detection and tracking system.

As part of its certification process, UDACTA had earlier completed two days of non-stop training at the “Camposoto” cantonment in San Fernando (Cádiz). The previous month, it tested its projection capabilities aboard the Strategic Projection Vessel L-61 “Juan Carlos I”.

The UDACTA II/15 Joint Force is built on a Battery armed with 155/52 mm howitzers supported by Command and Control, the Communication and Information System (CIS), target acquisition devices and logistical support.
