As a Christmas gift Lebanese children have received school supplies worth 1,800 Euros, thanks to a civic-military Project promoted by the18th Spanish rotation in Lebanon —principally made up of 10th Mechanised Infantry Brigade ‘Guzmán el Bueno’ personnel— and the Circle of Friends of the Armed Forces.

Collaborating in the collection campaign have also been several schools and associations from Jaén and Bailén.

This is the second occasion on which the collaboration between the mentioned association and the 10th Brigade has yielded results, since at Christmas 2010, a similar initiative achieved gathering a truckload of relief with school supplies, toys and sports material for the same purpose.

Christmas Greetings

Best wishes for these holidays have reached the Spanish service personnel posted to operations abroad in the form of Christmas cards made by the 3,000 schoolchildren who have joined the ‘You are not Alone’ campaign, also promoted by the Circle of Friends of the Armed Forces.

Army members who are currently undertaking their mission in Kabul, Herat and Qala i Naw —in Afghanistan—, in Naquora and Marjayoun —in Lebanon—, in Uganda and Somalia, or in Bosnia-Herzegovina, along with other members of the Armed Forces detached to operation ‘Atalanta’, have received greetings and gestures of affection from numerous schools and associations.

The aim of the initiative is for Spanish service personnel who are spending such meaningful dates far from their homes and families to feel the appreciation and respect that their labour and effort awaken in the society they belong to, especially among the youngest members.

On this occasion, participating in the campaign have been schools from various towns in Jaén and other provinces in Spain, as well as associations such as Friends of 10th Mechanised Infantry Brigade ‘Guzmán el Bueno’, Friends of the Civil Guard, Bailén Volunteers, the Seniors Centre and Housewives Association from the before mentioned city, who have had the collaboration of the Jaén Regional Deputy Delegate Office on Defence.
