The Association of Veteran Sahara Nomadic Troops, presided over by Colonel Ignacio Nodal, on 27th November opened the photograph exhibition on Army nomadic units.  The show, titled ‘Now We are not There, In Memory We will Remain Forever’, may be visited until 30th November at the Military Palace in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The exhibition is divided into 17 thematic areas, with photographs taken from a collection of over 4,000 images, which constitute an important historical testimony.  In this manner, visitors may learn about how day to day life in the units was or travel with the detachments that crossed the desert, while patrolling from the Saharan coast to the Mauritanian border.  Most of the images were taken by personnel posted to the nomadic units, which operated in the Spanish Sahara in the mid 20th century.

The show will remain open to the public on a timetable from ten o’clock in the morning until two o’clock in the afternoon and from four to eight o’clock in the evening.
