The students who have just joined the General Military Academy have received their sabres, as is traditional, from the hands of third and second year students.  This symbolic ceremony was held on 17th October on the Parade Ground and was presided over by the commandant of the General Military Academy, General Francisco José Gan. In this manner the camaraderie and fraternization between recently incorporated students and the more veteran ones are represented.

Later, in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza the presentation was carried out of the new cadets before the Virgin.  In this ceremony, voluntary in nature, the students who have just joined the Officer Scales and who are studying at the General Military Academy are presented before the patron of Zaragoza and the Hispanic World in order to invoke her support and protection.
