Base ‘San Isidro’ in  Mahón (Menorca) has a new firing range that has been constructed by the Balearic General Command Engineer Unit, with the aid of the Military Disaster Relief Unit ‘s 3rd Battalion.

Following the work, which lasted for 32 days, there is available an area for firing light weapons at a distance of 100 metres, which will allow the island’s units and those that transfer from the Peninsula to instruct on its installations.

To this end, 5,000 cubic metres of earth has had to be removed –with the aid of Military Disaster Relief Unit equipment-, 35 cubic metres of concrete has been used and the barrier has been covered with 650 metric tonnes of sand and gravel which will serve as damping.

The execution of this project has been within the scope of the General Command Engineer Unit Practical Schools.
