Friday, July 13, 2012

Number: 1782

A hundred servicepersons from NATO Rapid Deployment Headquarters Spain, based in Bétera (Valencia), began the handover with personnel deployed at ISAF Joint Command in Kabul. This new rotation’s mission in the Afghan capital will also last for six months.

Nonetheless, the deputy commander of the ISAF Joint Command, General José L. Antolín, among other key posts in the mission structure, will not be relieved yet and will remain in the area of operations until the end of the year.

On the other hand, the commander of NATO Rapid Deployment Headquarters Spain, Lieutenant General Rafael Comas, returned to Spain on 10th July, after having visited the service personnel deployed in Kabul, the Spanish ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr. Juan J. Rubio de Urquía, and the ISAF commander, US General John R. Allen.
