Deployed in Afghanistan, they cast their ballots from 17th to 21st March
Spanish service personnel deployed in Afghanistan and who are registered to vote in the Andalusian autonomous community and the Principality of Asturias have been the first citizens to cast their vote in both regional elections that will be held on 25th March. They have all been able to cast their ballots from 17th to 21st March.
The first to exercise their right to vote were the Army members detached to the Combat Outpost in Ludina, followed by those in Muqur, Dara i Bum and the ones on the Provincial Reconstruction Team base in Qala i Naw. The convoy transporting the votes cast in Ludina had a delayed arrival in Herat although in time for the ballots to enter the mailbag with all the other votes and board an aircraft bound for Spain on 21st March.
These servicepersons’ democratic participation has been possible thanks to the work undertaken by personnel belonging to the Logistic Support to Operations Headquarters, the Spanish Force for Afghanistan Personnel Platoon, the Army Legal Council and the Civil Guard.
