The latest survey carried out by the Sociological Research Centre, corresponding to October 2011, again situated the Armed Forces as the institution that is most highly valued by citizens, ahead of the communication media, the Monarchy, the Ombudsman, the Constitutional Court and seven other institutions. In addition, they are the only ones to reach a passing mark (on a scale of 0 to 10), with an average mark of 5.65 points In this manner, the Armed Forces repeats as the institution that is most highly valued by Spanish society, since nearly one year ago, in the November 2010 survey, they also achieved the top score.

The field work for the October survey was undertaken from 1st to 9th October, and the initial results were made public on the 26th. This deals with a nationwide survey in which 2,472 interviews are carried out on a population of Spaniards of both sexes who are 18 years of age or older.

The Sociological Research Centre is an autonomous organisation reporting to the Ministry of the Presidency, whose aim consists of studying Spanish society, usually by means of periodical surveys which are undertaken at its own initiative or at the request of other organisations.
