A Boeing 707 aircraft with full medical equipment took off from Herat (Afghanistan) around 10:00 am (Spanish time) and landed on Torrejón Air Base at 8:10 pm, following a stopover at the Naples airport (Italy).
Lieutenant A.G.B. and Private J.G.L., who underwent the amputation of a leg and the most serious injuries, continue to be in serious but stable condition. In turn, the other three wounded, Private A.Q.S., with injuries and a fractured leg, Private I.M.I., with various contusions, as well at the civilian interpreter, also with polytrauma, are improving.
On the air base the wounded were received by the undersecretary of Defence, Mr. Vicente Salvador Centelles, the commander of the Army Personnel Command, Lieutenant General Jesús Carlos Fernández Asensio, and the commander of the Operations Command, Lieutenant General Jaime Domínguez Buj, among other authorities.
