A representation from the General Military Academy, made up of 30 service persons, successfully carried out a relay race from Zaragoza to Santiago de Compostela, from 29th April to 1st May. The time spent to cover the 785 kilometres separating both cities was 63 hours and 13 minutes, which means an average of approximately 4 minutes and 40 seconds per kilometre. The legs of the race went by nonstop, both by day and by night, and in unstable weather conditions, until reaching the Obradoiro square in the city in Galicia.
The team was made up of 3 officers, 26 cadets and 1 professional troop soldier from the General Military Academy, who used three vans and two support vehicles to alternate when it was time to drop off and pick up the runners in pairs at the relay points. In each leg of the race, the pairs ran around 11 kilometres, although in some cases they reached nearly 15, so that, at the end of the day, all participants had run more than a half marathon.
