THE MORTAL REMAINS OF THE SERGEANT MAJOR WHO DIED IN LEBANON ARRIVE IN SPAIN

The mortal remains of Sergeant Major Isaías Martín Anguera, who died on the afternoon of 31st January on Base Miguel de Cervantes in Marjaioun (Lebanon), arrived at 10:15 pm on 1st February, on the Torrejón de Ardoz base (Madrid) aboard an Air Force Boeing aircraft.

A delegation of military authorities, led by the commander of the Operations Command, General Alejandre, along with the unit that the sergeant major belonged to, with the commander of the 1st Intelligence Regiment, Colonel Herrero, at the head, accompanied and supported the family during those difficult moments.  Colonel Martín Anguera, the master sergeant’s brother, was one of the relatives inattendance.  Service members and relatives beside the mortal remains

The mortal remains were taken to the Gómez Ulla Hospital in Madrid for autopsy to determine the causes of death.  Doctors who certified the death in the area of operations pointed to a heart attack as the probable cause.

Today the remains are being taken to Zamora, the city where the serviceman’s parents reside.

Sergeant Major Martín was 46 years old, a native of San Sebastián, and posted to the 1st Intelligence Regiment in Valencia.
