NEW COMMANDER AT HEADQUARTERS LEGAL COUNCIL

General Vázquez during his address Army Headquarters Legal Council has a new commander, General Federico Vázquez Tapioles, who has taken up the post today in a ceremony held at “Buenavista” Palace and presided over by the Chief of the Army Staff, Army General Fulgencio Coll.

Thus he heads the department in charge of providing technical support on legal matters directly to the Chief of the Army Staff and to the Staff generals as well as to those of the various divisions, in order to guarantee that their actions are in accordance with law.  A labour which, just as the Chief of the Army Staff acknowledged in his address, gives the commander “enormous peace of mind”.

The general being sworn in at his new post On his behalf, General Vázquez assured that prevailing over his decisions will be the intention of “contributing the solution that most suits the Army’s interests,” but “always” respecting the parameters of “justice and equity”. 
 

Likewise he expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him to assume a post of such responsibility and enormous workload; gratitude which he extended beyond his commanders and fellow service persons and in a very special manner to his recently deceased wife.

The appointment represents the culmination of over 32 years of service in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.  His last post to date had been the Prosecutor’s Office of Supreme Court Courtroom no. 5.  Prior to this he had served as advisor to the Land Force and participated in international missions.
