The Chief of the Army Staff, Army General Fulgencio Coll, held a working meeting on 21st September with his French counterpart, Army General Erilk Irastorza, at the Infantry Academy in Toledo, to review the current situation of the armies in both countries, with special attention to their role in missions abroad.
The French Chief of the Army Staff was received on the Academy Parade Ground, where he was paid official honours by a company of the centre’s cadets. After reviewing the formation, the entourage entered the installations where the meeting took place.
Following this, several speeches were given on the current situation of Army operations, Force structure and missions, as well as matters regarding training and doctrine, in order to offer a global vision of the Spanish Army. For his part, General Irastorza followed suit to present the French Army. This final talk was attended by cadets from the Academy.

The working day in Toledo was completed with a tour of the new Army Museum, which opened its doors to the public in the “Alcázar“ on 20th August, to wind up in Madrid, at Army Headquarters.
The French general’s visit is within the framework of those scheduled periodically for the Army Chiefs of Staff from European countries belonging to NATO in order to promote good relations and mutual understanding.
