MODIFICATIONS ON UNIFORM RULES

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Number: 721

One of the faculties of the Chiefs of Staff is the uniform standard of their respective armies. The Chief of the Army Staff, General Fulgencio Coll, has recently disseminated a series of decisions on this matter, with which he aims to simplify the current standard and adapt it to unit transformation, social reality, uses and situations.

As it has been to date, the coat will not be required, and the use of the camouflage jacket and combat gloves are authorised in formations with Duty uniform, when weather conditions so advise.

Also abolished is the use of coloured shoulder straps on duty and service uniforms. With the latter, only the beret will be used as headwear, except for the Legion, in which the “chapiri” cap is maintained, (service uniform II with “chapiri” cap) and the General Military Academy with its grey service uniform and cap of the same colour. Furthermore, and as in the previous case, with the short sleeved duty uniform the beret will be used exclusively or specific headwear, such as the “chapiri” cap in the case of the Legion. Neither will the unit sleeve insignia be used with this uniform, nor will this be worn when participating in events that require civilian dress in dark suits.

For female personnel its will be optional to wear trousers or skirt with duty and Service uniforms, in either case wearing low or high heeled black shoes, as appropriate.
