Army

They make up an exclusive club: that of the best Army precision marksmen and markswomen. And they have gathered for the first time from 7th to 11th June in Palma de Mallorca. The seminar "Honderos 2010", organised by the Balearic General Command, is pioneering. Never before has there been an encounter of this type at the national level.
The marksmen and markswomen, concentrated on base Jaime II, have focused on: perfecting procedures, optimising the use of their materiel –the modernised HK rifle and employment of observation, telescopic and telemeter sights- as well as undertaking firing practice. Likewise they have shared experiences in the area of operations and dealt with the improvement of tactical team instruction, as well as the integration of the marksman within the chain of command to avoid his feeling of isolation and to allow for upper echelon fire orders to be correctly managed.
For the practice exercises the 12.70 mm. Barret rifle, the 7.62 mm. Acuraccy rifle, the 5.56 mm. HK assault rifle and the Llama pistol have been used. Precision firing at 400 metres has been undertaken; firing at moving targets; combat firing with disembarkation; an ambush and counter-ambush exercise; pistol firing along a circuit; sentry elimination with suppressor; projection of a sequence; target identification and selection; firing under stress: simultaneous firing; and firing with a modified assault rifle.
Participating in this seminar have been members of Light Infantry, Mechanised/Armoured Infantry, Special Operations and Cavalry units, organised into 12 teams. Also present have been 30 observers from the NATO High Readiness Headquarters in Valencia, the “Regulares” Group in Ceuta, the Intelligence Regiment and the State Security Forces and Corps.
