THE CHIEF OF THE ARMY STAFF VISITS MEMBERS OF LIGHT INFANTRY BATTALION "ROGER DE FLOR" WHICH COMPLETES ITS PREPARATION TO TRAVEL TO LEBANON.

The Chief of the Army Staff, Army General Coll, on 16th February visited the “Los Alijares” Training Camp and Firing Range in Toledo, where 1st Light Infantry Battalion “Roger de Flor” completes its preparation to travel in mid April to Lebanon and make up a Battalion Task Force within 11th Task Force “Libre Hidalgo”.

As part of its final training phase it is now undertaking an Alfa type exercise that began on Monday, 15th February and will last five days, on which the Chief of the Army Staff was informed upon his arrival.  Following this, he attended an exercise of firing from a BMR Wheeled Armoured Vehicle to later observe how Battalion members, both on foot and in vehicles, reinforced their instruction in the area of Improvised Explosive Devices in the face of their upcoming mission by navigating a circuit along which several of these devices were camouflaged.

A mock deployment in an area of operations and an urban combat exercise —in the area known as “Casa de la Legua”—, along with driving practice in a Wheeled Armoured Vehicle completed the demonstrations that the Chief of the Army Staff attended during his stay at the training camp.

Finally, the Chief of the Army Staff transferred to the bivouac area and shared the meal with the soldiers, which brought to an end his visit.

Before departing for Lebanon, the 1st Light Infantry Battalion troops will undertake another Beta exercise and one more of integration of the entire Brigade.
