BASE “EL COPERO” OBTAINS ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CERTIFICATION.

Base "El Copero", which accommodates several Army units and is situated in the locality of Dos Hermanas, Seville, has had, since 22nd September, the Certification granted by the enterprise LRQA (Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance) which accredits that its Environmental Management System complies with Standard UNE - EN ISO 14001: 2004.
The commander of Base "El Copero", Colonel Labandeira, was in charge of receiving the Quality Certificate from the technical director on environment at LRQA, Ms. Olga Rivas Castillón, in a ceremony presided over by the commander of Army Sub-inspection General South, General Muñoz. Also attending were the delegate on Defence in Andalusia, Colonel Esquivias, and the mayor of Dos Hermanas, Mr. Francisco Toscazo Sánchez.

This certification obtained to carry out the ministry of Defence environmental policy is applicable to all work in administration, maintenance and use of installations and infrastructure; also to the maintenance and employment of operational equipment, as well as wheeled and tracked vehicles. Likewise, it is applicable to helicopters as well as military Unit instruction and training activities.
To date there are already 108 Spanish military bases and barracks that have received the accreditation of compliance with Standard UNE - EN ISO 14001: 2004. Of these, 73 belong to the Spanish Army.
