THE SPANISH ASSOCIATION OF MILITARY WRITERS PUBLISHES ITS ANNUAL

Monday, July 20, 2009

Number: 611

Luis Negro / Madrid

The Spanish Association of Military Writers, directed by General Alonso Baquer, has recently published its annual, with which it aims to make known the publications by its members, all of whom belong to the Armed Forces or Civil Guard.
Likewise, the association is working on the publication of a book devoted to the Spanish War of Independence –which will be published within a few months- made up entirely by works and research undertaken by historian members of the Spanish Association of Military Writers.
On the other hand, the association has carried out, since January, its annual lecture cycle, focused on history, philosophy, law, strategy and military current affairs, which has been held in the Armed Forces Cultural Centre. All of the lectures take place at seven o’clock in the evening and admission is free of charge. At midpoint through this cycle, some of the remaining lectures until November are the following: “From King Carlos III to Peacekeeping Operations”, which will take place on 14th September and will be offered by Master Sergeant Molinero; “Militia and the 21st Century”, offered by General Quero on 5th October; and, to close the cycle, on 30th November, the lecture “Barceló, the Terror of the Barbary Pirates”, whose speaker will be Navy Colonel Gutiérrez.
