PRESENTATION OF THE ROYAL MILITARY ORDERS GUIDON TO THE MEMBERS OF THE 2008-2009 ANTARCTIC CAMPAIGN

On the occasion of undertaking the Antarctic expedition during International Polar Year and in recognition of the work that our military personnel carry out on the White Continent, on 11th January, on Spanish Antarctic Base “Gabriel de Castilla”, the Royal Military Orders of Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara and Montesa presented a commemorative Guidon to the members of the 2008-2009 Antarctic Campaign.

Following the presentation of the Guidon, there was a reading of an address from the president of the Royal Council on Military Orders, His Royal Highness Mr. Carlos de Borbón-Dos Sicilias. Immediately afterwards, the commander of the 2008-2009 Antarctic Campaign, Major Ruiz, expressed his gratitude and presented the Campaign Guidon to the representatives of the Orders. 

Attending the ceremony were, in addition to representatives from the Royal Orders, the commander of the Oceanographic Research Ship “Las Palmas”, Lieutenant Rodríguez, as well as the Antarctic base civilian and military personnel.
