Training on the Tiger simulator

Teams from the Liaison Section of the Field Artillery Group (GACA, in Spanish), part of the 10th Brigade “Guzmán el Bueno,” received training on the Tiger helicopter simulator at the “Coronel Sánchez Bilbao” base in Almagro (Cuidad Real) from February 8th to the 12th.
The exercise was carried out in cooperation with the 1st Helicopter Battalion of the Army’s Aerial Forces in order to improve training on the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) equipment.
In this simulator, JTAC links helicopter attack crews together in order to assist ground forces. These procedures require a high level of equipment specialization among the liaison team, whose mission is to guide the aerial forces to the objective so they can provide covering fire to protect the combat units.
During the exercise, the JTAC team joined with other GACA teams who intervene in the Brigade´s fire response and were integrated into their combat units. This contribution is important since through covering fire, they help achieve the planned objectives and protect the ground forces.
