KSPUAR

The handover between the Spanish Force in Kosovo, Task Force KSPFOR XXIII "Castilla y León", and the Spanish Redeployment Support Unit in Kosovo (KSPUAR) took place on 31st July 2009 in Istok, during a military parade which marked the beginning of the redeployment of the Spanish Force in Kosovo.

With this ceremony Spanish Task Force KSPFOR XXIII operational activities conclude, in which nearly 254,000 kilometres have been travelled and over 5,000 vehicle and foot patrols undertaken.

Colonel García Blázquez, commander of the Spanish Force “Castilla y León”, assumes command of the 317 service persons making up the Spanish Redeployment Support Unit in Kosovo, among them the railway unit for material collection tasks. The latter will travel to the Greek city of Thessaloniki and subsequently by sea to the Iberian Peninsula.
