SPFOR XXV
On 29th May Task Force SPFOR XXV began a new mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina that will last until the end of September 2005. Task Force SPFOR XXV has core troops from the 4th Light Infantry Brigade "Urgel", based in San Clemente de Sasebas (Girona).
Under the command of Colonel Santaeufemia, the force is made up of 295 servicepeople , of whom 183 are from the 4th "Urgel", 66 from the Marine Brigade in San Fernando (Cádiz) and the remainder from Manoeuvre Force units. The distribution of the unit is Command Headquarters, Support Unit to Headquarters, telecommunications unit, and two Rifle Companies , in addition to medical teams.
This is the first time that the 4th Light Infantry Brigade "Urgel" participates in a peace-keeping mission, although some of its members have done so while integrated in other units.
