SPABRI III
Commander: General Francisco Javier Zorzo Ferrer.
Troops are drawn from the Legionnaire Brigade and include a Squadron from the 8th Cavalry Regiment "Lusitania", with some forces that include the Advance Logistics Echelon (EALOG) with 1,302 members.
The general deployment of previous Brigades was maintained except for the Nevesinje detachment, which was abandoned.
This Brigade remained in Bosnia and Herzegovina from December 1996 until April 1997 and one of its most significant undertakings during this period was monitoring the city of Mostar, which was the highest priority and the most conflictive point in our Area of Responsibility, where during the months of February and March serious ethnic confrontations, which included a grenade attack on a Spanish patrol, took place.
During this period the Pilot Project of ACNUR was initiated in the city of Stolac, which meant the resettlement of 100 Bosnian families in this city, where the majority of the population is currently Croatian.
