The Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, accompanied by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Francisco J. Varela, visited the “La Rinconada” farm on the 24th of June, the future site of the Army Logistics Base, in the company of the Mayor of Cordoba, José María Bellido, and other authorities. The objective was to know the grounds where this important logistics centre will be built.

They then went to the Cordoba City Hall, where, in the Salón de Plenos, a detailed presentation on the project was given by the head of the Logistics Support Command (MALE by its Spanish acronym), Lieutenant General Fernando G. y García de las Hijas and the head of Logistics Centres, General Enrique Ruiz.
In his speech, the head of MALE referred to this project as "a spearhead in digitization, industry 4.0 and predictive logistics", adding that it is a cutting-edge initiative "not only for the Spanish Armed Forces", but also for the whole country and which will become "a logistics hub within the European Union."

For her part, Margarita Robles thanked "the work, the availability and the enthusiasm" of the Cordoba City Council and the Regional Government of Andalusia in collaborating with the Spanish army. "This is the best demonstration that when we want to do something great for Spain, we all unite," she declared.

Also present at the event were the Secretary of State for Defence, Esperanza Casteleiro; the Minister of Development, Infrastructure and Land Management of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Marifrán Carazo; and the deputy delegate of the Government in Cordoba, Rafaela Valenzuela.

In the morning, the Chief of the Army Staff visited the “San Fernando” barracks, headquarters of the Rueda Vehicle Maintenance Centre and Park (PCMVR by its Spanish acronym) No. 2, where he attended a presentation by the head of PCMVR 2, Colonel Cabello. Next, he toured different workshops and warehouses to see first-hand the supply and maintenance activities that are carried out there.

In addition, personnel from the Department of Engineering and Systems explained the different projects that are carried out in collaboration with the University of Cordoba to the Chief Executive Officer., such as the MANPREDIC predictive maintenance project
