Ninth Forum Commanders of European Land Forces

It will be a great pleasure to have the opportunity to welcome and receive you all in Valencia from November 14th to 16th of this year. As you know, Valencia is a city with a balanced mix of culture and tradition on the one hand and modernity on the other.

The Forum is organized with a main short-term objective: creating an atmosphere of knowledge, debate and camaraderie. And with a long-term goal: improving ourselves and the armies that each of us represents in order to meet Europe's security and defence challenges.

Conventional warfare has returned to Europe in a way we had not seen in nearly two generations. It is the main event around this Ninth Edition of our Forum.

Technology is providing new weapons and could represent a turning point making obsolete not only some of our weaponry, but also the way we fight and perhaps the way we organize ourselves for combat.

I hope that this event will provide a fertile ground for conversation, and incorporating the availability of bilateral meetings, will crystallize into a very profitable moment for all of us.
