On the occasion of the 47th anniversary of 5th Light infantry Brigade ‘San Marcial’, on 23rd June next a commemorative ceremony will be held on ‘Araca’ in Vitoria which, presided over by the commander of the 5th Light Infantry Brigade, General Carlos Terol, will have participation by 45th Light Infantry Regiment ‘Garellano’ and 67th Light Infantry Regiment ‘Tercio Viejo de Sicilia’.
 

On such an occasion, a plaque will be unveiled at one of the base’s emblematic buildings in memory of Staff sergeant Joaquín Moya Espejo, killed in Afghanistan on 6th November last by light weapon fire during a confrontation with rebel forces near Ludina.
 

Staff Sergeant Joaquín Moya, who recently received honorary promotion to master sergeant, was 35 years of age and father of a son.  He was posted to 45th Regiment ‘Garellano’, in Vitoria.
