Commemoration of the 1,000th issue of the Ejército magazine at Army Headquarters

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, presided over the ceremony commemorating the publication of the 1,000th issue of the magazine Ejército on March 6 at Army Headquarters in Madrid. She was accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Army (JEME), General of the Army Amador Enseñat y Berea, along with other military authorities.

Founded in February 1940, the magazine Ejército is a professional technical publication aimed at facilitating the exchange of ideas and technical information on military matters. With the publication of its 1,000th issue, it reaches an important milestone in its history of promoting and disseminating military thought.

During her remarks, Margarita Robles stated that this anniversary is “a source of pride and satisfaction” because of the role played by the magazine Ejército as “a forum for reflection where experiences can be shared, highlighting the positive aspects and always taking pride in our Army and in its commitment, in a complicated and challenging geopolitical and geostrategic context such as the one we face today.”

For his part, General of the Army Amador Enseñat y Berea reaffirmed the significance of this commemoration, stating that “reaching the one-thousandth issue is not simply achieving a round number; it is proof of continuity, perseverance, and commitment. It demonstrates that generation after generation, and beyond the transformations that have taken place, our Army has preserved a constant: the determination to reflect on itself and on its mission, maintaining its own space for military thought, professional reflection, and the dissemination of knowledge.”

During the ceremony, General Maldonado Pardo, Deputy Director of Technical Assistance Services at the Headquarters of Cyberspace and Technical Assistance Services (JCISAT)—the body responsible for producing the magazine—and director of the publication, together with Colonel Suelves Albert, its deputy director, gave a presentation on the magazine’s historical evolution. They also highlighted its important role as a means of outreach and transparency for the Army, serving as a “showcase” of the evolution of Spanish military thought.
