The Chief of the Army Logistics Support Command (MALE), Lieutenant General Raimundo Rodríguez Roca, on January 26, at the Army Museum of Toledo, presided over the presentation of the latest monographic issue of the journal Perfiles (Profiles), published by Infodefensa and focused on “The New Approach to Maneuver.” This topic was the main theme of the 8th edition of the 2E+I Ejército 35 Forum, held last October at the Museum’s headquarters.

At the presentation of the journal, the Chief of MALE was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Army Museum Foundation, organizer of the 2E+I Ejército 35 Forum under the direction of the Army Logistics Support Command, and by the Director of Infodefensa, whose publication contributes to the dissemination of the activities and main conclusions of the specific workshops held within the framework of the 2E+I Ejército 35 Forum.

The new approach to maneuver seeks to adapt the Army to the current and future challenges posed by high-intensity conflicts, through technological innovation and the strengthening of the defense industrial base in order to achieve strategic autonomy.

In this regard, Lieutenant General Roca stated during the presentation that “achieving strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty requires a significant effort—that is, a sustained signal of investment that definitively strengthens our own defense capabilities, provides sufficient confidence, and projects credible deterrence so that our society can feel secure.”

For this reason, the Chief of MALE highlighted the value of the monographic issue, since—according to his remarks—“it includes a set of key ideas that we believe are useful for the development of the military capabilities required by the Army and that constitute the backbone of this journal.”

Lieutenant General Roca also stated that “we are facing a genuine historic turning point, marked by a profound doctrinal shift that leads us to a new approach to maneuver in a context of the return of high-intensity conflicts, characterized by high lethality, enormous pressure on logistical systems, and a constant need for adaptation,” adding that “a second key element is the accelerated and massive use of new technologies, which is radically transforming the battlefield.”
