The ‘Galicia’ VII Brigade, as the reference unit in the field of combat casualty care training within the Land Force (FUTER), conducted an intensive training course from 17 to 22 November at ‘General Morillo’ Base (Pontevedra).

The course included the participation of personnel from the State Law Enforcement Agencies and from foreign military units, particularly those from the United Kingdom and Italy, whose presence falls within the Army’s bilateral activities program. It also included observers from countries belonging to the 5+5 Defence initiative, from both shores of the western Mediterranean, such as Algeria, Libya, and Morocco.

The training, conducted in a train-the-trainers format, focused on the application of the Tactical Combat Casualty Care protocol, considered the international standard for medical care in hostile environments. This system establishes clear procedures for the immediate assistance of wounded combatants, prioritizing the control of massive hemorrhage, airway management, and safe evacuation to higher levels of medical care.

During the course, participants received both theoretical and practical instruction, with realistic exercises simulating combat scenarios. The methodology included the use of specific equipment, employing 3D simulation tools, damage control maneuvers, and stabilization techniques designed to increase survival chances on the battlefield.
