Training sessions for the new PITON CBRN vehicle in Paterna

Personnel from the CBRN Defense Battalion I/1 participated in training sessions on the use of the new PITON CBRN reconnaissance vehicle (Technological Integration Platform for CBRN), held from February 10th to 14th at “Daoiz y Velarde” Barracks in Paterna (Valencia). The sessions were coordinated by the CBRN Defense Regiment “Valencia” No. 1, the General Subdirectorate of Planning, Technology, and Innovation, and the Spanish company UROVESA, the manufacturer of the PITON.

The PITON CBRN vehicle is a state-of-the-art platform recently acquired by the Army, equipped with advanced technological systems such as the FALCON 4G system, which enables the detection of chemical agents from several kilometers away. The vehicle is also fitted with a robotic arm that allows for marking and sample collection without exposing the crew to CBRN agents.

The vehicle remains in testing during exercise “Bernardo de Gálvez 25,” taking place from February 17th to 23rd at the “Chinchilla” Training Center, where it is used in conjunction with the newly acquired Multipurpose CBRN General Decontamination Systems.

This new system represents a significant technological advancement for the capabilities of the Land Force and the Army, placing them at the forefront of CBRN reconnaissance and identification capabilities.
