The Chief of the Spanish Army Staff (JEME), General Amador Enseñat y Berea, represented Spain at the 10th Forum of European Army Chiefs of Staff, held in Dresden (Germany) from August 27th to 29th. The event, organized by the Bundeswehr —the German Armed Forces— brought together Europe’s top military leaders to discuss the challenges and the future of land capabilities on the continent. Additionally, it provided an opportunity to exchange experiences on the transformation process of these land forces in the current geopolitical context and ongoing projects that will strengthen their capabilities.

On the opening day, August 27th, the participants were rendered military honors at the German Army Officers' School. Subsequently, the initial discussion sessions focused on analyzing the key capabilities of land forces and the future of mechanized warfare.

In this regard, the use of Artificial Intelligence, robotics, the integration of drones at all levels, the enhancement of long-range fires, and the strengthening of electronic warfare and C-UAS (counter-unmanned aerial systems) capabilities were identified as key areas that should drive the transformation of European armies. This will ensure maximum interoperability, aiming to enhance the deterrence and defense capabilities provided by allied deployments.

The forum concluded on August 29th with a session dedicated to the requirements of military leadership in current and future scenarios. For this reason, the top commanders of European armies discussed the challenges in training new leaders, in a context shaped by the multinational nature of land forces within the framework of current NATO and EU operations.
