The former minister of Defense bids farewell to the Flag at the Army´s HQ

The Spanish Defense former minister, Pedro Morenés, has claimed today, at the Flag of Spain farewell event in the Army HQ, that: ‘nobody can say goodbye to something one loves.’ In this event, the new Defense minister of Spain, María Dolores de Cospedal, granted him the Great Cross of the Naval Merit.

Morenés symbolized his goodbye kissing the Flag of the ‘America’ Regiment, 66; the unit with which he had his first contact with the Army when he was doing the national military service. 
Morenés, at the weapons’ courtyard of the Army HQ, where he formed a mixed company, thanked all the military personnel for having made him feel ‘one of them.’ He also declared, very moved, his love for the Flag of Spain.

On her part, the new minister, Ms. Cospedal, highlighted of Mr. Morenés, the essential encouragement of the Armed Forces upgrading and the leading role that Spain has adquired abroad.
In her opinion, to receive that legacy is very fortunate; ‘I am convinced’, she added, ‘that no matter where you will be, you will greatly serving your country because you are an amazing patriot.’

Nex to the new minister, the following attendees: JEMAD in Spanish, Chief of the Defense Staff, Fernando García Sánchez; JEME in Spanish, Chief of Staff of Spanish Army, Jaime Domínguez Buj; AJEMA in Spanish, Chief of Staff of Spanish Navy, Jaime Muñoz-Delgado; and JEMA in Spanish, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Francisco Javier García. The event was closed with a tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain and also an Armed Forces parade.
