New theatre for the Spanish troops

The Advanced Reconnaissance Company of the Parachute Brigade will be training a group of soldiers of the Senegalese Army as precision shooters from 29 June to 15 July.

The contingent will be made up of a command team, a team of instructors and a protection unit. All in all, a dozen soldiers will make their début in a theatre which is new for Spain.

The training of a commando section of one of the Senegalese Light Infantry Battalions will take place at the “Forêt de Pout” training ground, approximately 20 kilometres from the Thiès airbase where the Spaniards will be housed.

Before deployment, the parachutists attended several courses on self-defence and treatment of casualties, refresher workshops in intelligence and shooting practice with the Dragunov SVD rifle, which the Senegalese soldiers are equipped with.
