The Chief of the Army Staff, Army General Fulgencio Coll, yesterday visited Heavy Forces Headquarters, situated on Base ‘Diego Porcelos’ (Burgos). As customary, the Chief of the Army Staff began the visit with continuous running alongside the Heavy Forces commander, General Miguel Alcañiz, and base personnel, followed by breakfast with the commanders of the units garrisoned in Burgos.

At ten o’clock in the morning he was received with official honours.  Subsequently, he was given an update on the Headquarters.  During the explanation, an evaluation of the Heavy Forces and the latest modifications to obtain its certification as division headquarters were presented to the Chief of the Army Staff.  The Chief of the Army Staff offered encouragement, in these times of crisis, in favour of work and imagination in order not to lose the Army’s high level of training.

After a tour of the installations, the Chief of the Army Staff held a meeting with Base ‘Diego Porcelos’ civilian and military personnel.   The ‘Captain Col’ march and the Heavy Forces Hymn were performed.  Following this, General Alcañiz presented him with a memento from the armoured units.  With the signing of the Guest Book, the Chief of the Army Staff brought to a close his visit of the base that once had accommodated him as commander of 1st Mechanised Division ‘Brunete’.
