The painting titled Bosnia, by the author Mr. Alejandro García, has won first prize in the General Painting category in the 50th Army Awards, while the work Rescue, by Mr. Fernando Simón, has taken second place.

The panel of judges, made up by servicepersons and specialists, considered that these two works stood out above all 118 works submitted and were deserving of the 7,000 Euros and 5,000 Euros with which these prizes are respectively endowed.

As well, they agreed in the deliberation meeting on 9th May to make special mention of the works Antarctica: Gabriel de Castilla, by Mr.  Alberto Fernández, due to the originality of the technique employed; and to Union and Dedication, by Mr. José A. Martín, owing to the values of camaraderie and team spirit which are outstanding in his work.

The next date with painting will be on 20th May in ‘Buenavista’ Palace gardens, where the Rapid Painting competition will be held and decided.

The Army Awards, which are celebrating their 50th anniversary, are announced with the aim of promoting artistic creation related with Army activities, as well as awareness and dissemination of military life.
