The Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Army visits the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain Headquarters.
General Rovisco Duarte, Chief of Staff Portuguese Army, visited the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain (NRDC-ESP) HQ in Betera (Valencia), where Portuguese military personnel work along with allied personnel from eight different nations. The visit took place on 15th January.
General Rovisco Duarte was welcomed by General Gan Pampols, Commander of NRDC-ESP HQ. He was briefed about the mission, context, organization, commitments and way ahead of the NRDC. The party then moved to the deployed NRDC Command Post, where General Rovisco Duarte had the opportunity to get first-hand knowledge of the means, capabilities, and the modern command and control information system which enables the Headquarters to conduct operations of up to 50000 military personnel, and to operate throughout the entire spectrum of NATO missions, from article 5 collective defense operations to crisis response operations.
Finally, General Duarte attended along with the Spanish Army Chief of Staff, General Varela, the handover takeover ceremony of the new NRDC-ESP Deputy Commander, Portuguese General Viegas.
