NATO HEADQUARTERS in Betera starts its deployment for TRJE15
· More than 1.100 troops will be deployed in different European locations.
The Support Battalion of NATO Headquarters in Bétera has begun this week the deployment of HQ´s personnel and means needed to set up the Command and Control elements that will allow conducting land operations in exercise “Trident Juncture 15”, the NATO most important one in the last decade.
The deployment of means towards San Gregorio (Zaragoza, ESP), Chinchilla (Albacete, ESP), Santa Margarida (Portugal) and Capo Teulada (Italy) Training Areas will take some weeks and it is expected to finish at the end of September with the deployment of the members of the staff.
San Gregorio Training Area in Zaragoza will host the most numbered contingent of this deployment with 1.000 soldiers, 110 vehicles and 150 containers whose mission consist on set up the Main Command Post and the living area.
Small signal detachments of up to 25 people each will deploy in each training area to ensure connectivity with the main Command Post in Zaragoza. Another signal detachment will deploy in Stavanger (Norway), where NATO Exercise Control Center has already been set up.
Personnel from Marines, Bétera and Paterna Military Bases as well as from Santo Domingo and San Juan de la Ribera barracks in Valencia are going to participate in the two phases the exercise “Trident Juncture 15” consists on.
Command Post Phase (Command Post Exercise-CPX). It will be carried out from the 3rd to the 16th of October, with the purpose of evaluating and certifiying the command structure of the 2016 Nato Response Force.
Real Phase (Live exercise-LIVEX). It will be carried out from October the 24th to November the 6th. Land, air and maritime operations such us land offensive operations, amphibious desembarkments, paratroopers launching, urban warfare operations, special operations actions as well as others within Radiological, Nuclear, Biological and Chemist (RNBC) environment.
The redeploymnent of all Units to Valencia will end in the middle of November.
‘TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2015’
“Trident Juncture 15” exercise is a High Visibility one of the new NATO Response Force emerged from Wales Summit in SEP14 to respond to the new threaths and challenges.
“Trident Juncture15” is part of the Connected Forces Initiative, a proyect which goal is achieve the interoperability amongst all Aliance Forces.
